The pools and schedule for the first men’s HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series event of the 2020 season has been announced.
Held on 5-7 December, 2019, the Dubai Sevens live marks the start of this season’s men’s competition as well as the race for Olympic glory as rugby sevens prepares to make its second appearance at the Olympic Games, in Tokyo next year.
Scotland have been drawn into pool B alongside, the 2019 series runners-up – USA, newly promoted Ireland and Australia.
Scotland kick off their first match against Australia on the opening day of the tournament, before facing the USA and Ireland the following day.
Hosted at the iconic Sevens Stadium, this year’s tournament celebrates a half century of the Dubai Sevens live streaming . With the women’s tournament taking place at the same time, this years competition will see all men’s and women’s matches played on the main pitch for the first time in its history.

“We’d like to congratulate Dubai on their upcoming 50th anniversary and for being such a prominent feature on the world series over the years. There is no doubt that this season’s tournament will go above and beyond to deliver the very best of rugby sevens to those watching in the stadium and at home.”
Tickets for the Dubai Sevens are available via Dubai Rugby 7s tickets with popular singer Kylie Minogue set to play an evening concert on Friday 6 December to celebrate 50 years of the event.

The long-running tournament kicked off back in 1970 – even before the formation of the UAE in 1971 – and 50 years later it’s now one of the biggest events in the city’s social calendar every year.
And in honour of the big 5-0, the long-running tournament has launched a new VIP experience, also known as “Studio 50”, so get ready to step back in time to the ’70s across the weekend in December.
