Former NRL star turned boxer Paul Gallen says his next opponent, undefeated 22-year-old heavyweight Justis Huni, has to take responsibility for the insults being thrown around from his camp when they meet in the ring on 16 June.
Huni's father, Rocki, called Gallen a "donkey" in a recent interview, dismissing the 39-year-old Cronulla great as a threat to his son. Justis Huni brushed aside his father's jibes, saying he hasn't spent his life training to just throw insults. Gallen says it's his opponent who will ultimately pay for all the talk. The stage is set.

The 2021 Castle Lager Lions Series will kick off in Gauteng on Sunday 4 July (2AM AEST), with three matches against provincial opposition before the Lions move to Cape Town for two more games ahead of the first Test against the Springboks on Sunday 25 July (2AM AEST).
The Lions will then return to Johannesburg for the second and third Tests against the world champion Springboks at FNB Stadium on 1 and 8 August (2AM AEST), respectively.
The Lions have toured South Africa on 13 previous occasions, with the first Tour taking place in 1891. In that time, the Lions have won four Test series, lost eight with one drawn. The last time the Lions faced the Springboks on South African soil was in 2009 – with the famous touring side delivering a 28-9 defeat of South Africa at Ellis Park Stadium.

New Zealand heavyweight Joseph Parker is literally fighting for his future as he looks to renew his lucrative deal with Matchroom Boxing. Parker takes on Britain’s Dereck Chisora in Manchester on May 2 (NZT) in a contest that has huge ramifications to his career. That original deal, believed to be worth around $6m, was signed in late May, 2019. Injuries and the Covid pandemic have stretched it out to two years with Parker only fighting and beating Alex Leapai and Shawndell Winters in two contests in the United States. His last win over fellow Kiwi Junior Fa in Auckland was independent of the Matchroom deal.
Chisora is by far the biggest fight for Parker under his British bosses and has heaped pressure on him to get a good win to push his cause for an extension. “Depending on how this fight goes, we can renew,” Parker told Stuff from his training camp in Morecambe, north England, on Wednesday. “It will be dependent on the result and if they still want me. So I have to put in a good performance, I have to win.”
Despite a quiet couple of years, Parker has stayed relevant in a heavyweight scene that has been hijacked by Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. He is No 3 with the WBO and No 6 with the WBC and IBF, keeping him contention for title fights which remains his driving ambition.
Parker will let his New Zealand manager David Higgins sort out negotiations and weigh up his current situation against any other options. But Parker is keen to stay with Matchroom if he can.
“They are one of the best in the world to work with ... very honest, they put on great shows, they are fair to their fighters,” Parker said.
“I will leave that to David to decide, but I think Matchroom for me, would be the one to sign on with again.”
Having transferred his training from Las Vegas to Great Britain where he has started with new coach Andy Lee, Parker's current situation might increase his appeal to Matchroom in the world’s sporting environment where situations can change in an instant because of Covid.
Parker confirmed to Stuff that if he can beat the durable Chisora, his preference would be to fight again quickly, meaning he would stay in Britain to build on his blossoming relationship with Lee. Parker fight stream

Dereck Chisora’s confidence is just as high as when he was supposed to fight Joseph Parker in October 2019.
Chisora has since suffered his 10th professional loss – a 12-round, unanimous-decision defeat to Oleksandr Usyk on October 31 at Wembley Arena in London. He is 37 years old, too, but Chisora recognizes that he can rejuvenate his career by upsetting the former WBO heavyweight champion May 1 at a site to be announced.
“I’m gonna take him to the deep end,” Chisora told Sky Sports. “We’re gonna fight. I’m gonna bring the war. I’m gonna bring war and pain. That’s it.”
New Zealand’s Parker is fresh off defeating countryman Junior Fa by unanimous decision in their 12-rounder February 27 at Spark Arena in Auckland. The 29-year-old Parker (28-2, 21 KOs) has lost only a pair of unanimous decisions to Anthony Joshua, the IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO champion, and Dillian Whyte in back-to-back 12-rounders in 2018.
“We’re gonna make it three [losses for Parker],” Chisora said. “Yeah, we’re gonna go for it. … He’s got fast hands. He’s got fast hands, but I’ve got a new trainer coming in this week, so we’re excited about that.”
Chisora (32-10, 23 KOs) wouldn’t reveal the identity of his new trainer, who apparently will replace Steve Broughton. Parker parted ways with his longtime trainer, Kevin Barry, as well after he defeated Fa (19-1, 10 KOs) and hired former WBO middleweight champion Andy Lee to work with him.

He managed to keep his name suppressed through two years of hearings, before the Supreme Court ordered it lifted.
Now based in the UK, where he's preparing to fight Derek Chisora on May 2 (NZ time) - the South Aucklander insists he's at peace with the ordeal, which has only added to his motivation to re-establish himself among the heavyweight division's elite.
"I know what's true and I know there are a lot of things that have been said about me," Parker tells Newshub. "I can't really talk about it, as I've taken advice from my lawyer to not talk on this topic.
"But as long as I know the truth and as long as I know what I'm here for - focusing on the fight and on the future and staying positive, staying happy, making the most of my opportunity - I'm okay.
"It's pushed me even harder to focus on my goal and train even harder, and I feel like I've given it more this camp.
"I'm just focused on winning and on the goal of being two-time world champion. I feel like I have tunnel vision.
"All I have to focus on is training, eating and sleeping and being the best that I can be, and - as a fighter - that's all you want to think about."
